WHAT IS COGNITIVE MOVEMENT COACHING

Our goal for you is to restore adaptable and stable function and structure. When misaligned, we experience subtle stresses in our bodies as we maintain our uprightness. 
My training as a Certified Rolfer® allows me to see structural relationships and help you make sense and resolve them. My work may include some firm pressure on your skin, along with gentle movements from you, the client. But it’s not the fascia or muscles that I am changing. Fascia is also really strong—some research shows that it can have the tensile strength of steel. 
A more likely explanation is that through conversation, safe touch, and safe movement the sensitivity in your skin will decrease, thereby allowing your nervous system to calm and find safety. This results in your improving symptoms, while (re)learning and accepting new options for movement, flexibility, posture, etc
In calming down your nervous system, we work with interoception and your ability to change your perceptions to allow your system to explore new options. In a sense, we help your pre-frontal cortex (thinking, logical part of your brain) talk with your unconscious brain (emotional and threat awareness part of your brain). The changes you experience are on the inside and outside, from which you can find a balance between stability and mobility (or support and adaptability), while finding your inner length, your True Core, your essence. This, in turn, can allow for structural shifts, more energy, more flexibility, resolution of pain, and improved performance.

Our work is experienced as a very individual process based on your lived experience, your injuries, and the chronic tension patterns in your body. Sensations can range from light to deep, and usually transformative. However, most clients experience firm pressure followed by a feeling of release and lightness. Our relationship and your goals determines the firmness that your nervous system deems safe to stay at ease and present for change.

Limited mobility, chronic pain issues such as TMJD - headaches - whiplash -tendonitis - carpal tunnel syndrome - rotator cuff injury - lower back pain - scoliosis - knee problems - plantar fascitis or many other challenges resulting from injury.

Others want better posture or the “experience” of lightness, flexibility, and personal growth that comes with being brought into alignment with gravity.
